13/14 August 2014

Some of the moths caught between 21.10 13 Aug and 03.00 14 Aug
in my 15w Actinic Skinner Trap in my Back Garden in Howdon

0015 Orange Swift Hepialus sylvina

0998 Light Brown Apple Moth Epiphyas postvittana

1036 Acleris forsskaleana

1216 Cherry Bark Moth Enarmonia formosana
(a first for me)

1331 Water Veneer Acentria ephemerella
(Anyone disagree with this ?)

1713 Riband Wave Idaea aversata

1762 Dark Marbled Carpet Chloroclysta citrata
(lovely looking moth but it didn't hang around - know what to do next time)

1981 Poplar Hawk Moth Laothoe populi
(2 of these and they are just so docile)

2111 Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing Noctua janthe

2112 Least Yellow Underwing Noctua interjecta
(Bad picture but a first for me)

2133 Six-striped Rustic Xestia sexstrigata
(Yet another first - for some reason I knew what it was as soon
as I saw, but still checked of course)

2134 Square-spot Rustic Xestia xanthographa
(6 of these some very worn)

2298 Svenssons Copper Underwing Amphipyra berbera

 2303 Straw Underwing Thalpophila matura
(I get these mixed up with Rustics)

2337x Marble Minor agg Oligia strigilis
(sometimes find these difficult to distinguish with Common
Rustic agg but they have a slight different shape which helps)

2343x Common Rustic agg Mesapamea secalis

2353 Flounced Rustic Luperina testacea
(I think this is my first one but have seen it at other traps)
